Connecting men across the UK through peer support networks to prevent male suicide and save lives together
The Crisis We Face
Why Men Struggle in Silence
Why men struggle in silence
Men are dying in silence. In 2023, male suicide reached its highest rate since 1999 at 17.4 deaths per 100,000. We account for 75% of all suicides – 4,506 male deaths versus 1,563 female deaths in England and Wales. Men aged 45-49 are at highest risk with 25.5 deaths per 100,000.
Why do men struggle?
Social expectations pressure us to be strong, stoic, and self-reliant – preventing us from seeking help when we need it most. Men often lack deep friendships and support networks as we age. We struggle with expressing emotions and discussing mental health.
The result? Isolation. Silence. And preventable deaths.
Fireteams changes this. We’re building a brotherhood where no man faces his darkest moments alone.
Leadership Structure
Every group of four men has a trained Fireteam Leader – a brother who helps you open up, asks the right questions, creates bonds, provides guidance, and shares tools to help you push through.
Breaking Through
What Holds Men Back
Name
Description
DEPRESSION
Your brothers notice when you’re struggling. Daily check-ins and weekly calls ensure you’re never fighting alone. Your Fireteam Leader helps you recognize patterns and take action.
ANXIETY & STRESS
Talk it out with men who get it. No judgment. No pressure to “man up.” Just real conversations about real struggles with brothers who have your back.
ISOLATION
Build the deep friendships most men lack. Your Fireteam becomes your squad – four men committed to showing up for each other, every single day.
COMMUNICATION BARRIERS
Your Fireteam Leader guides conversations, asks questions that matter, and creates a space where opening up becomes natural, not forced.
FEELING LIKE A BURDEN
Your Fireteam is there because they want to be. You’re not a burden – you’re a brother. And brothers look out for each other.
How Fireteams Work
# 01
Four-Man Units
Your squad. Small enough to build real trust. Each team includes a trained Fireteam Leader who helps break down walls, facilitates honest conversations, and keeps the group engaged.
# 02
Daily Check-Ins
WhatsApp groups where you share the wins and the struggles. Your Fireteam Leader monitors engagement and reaches out when someone goes quiet. No one disappears on our watch.
# 03
Weekly Calls
Face-to-face time builds deeper bonds. Your Fireteam Leader guides discussions, introduces self-help tools, and ensures conversations go beyond surface-level chat. This is where brotherhood is built.
Our Approach
From Strangers to Brothers:
The Fireteam Journey
01 - Formation & Matching
We match you with three other men based on age, background, ethnicity, religion, profession, or shared experiences. Every team gets a trained Fireteam Leader – not a therapist, but a facilitator who’s learned how to help men open up, build trust, and support each other effectively.
02 - Breaking Down the Walls
Your Fireteam Leader doesn’t let the group stay superficial. They ask questions that matter. They share resources that help. They create an environment where talking about mental health stops feeling weird and starts feeling normal. This is where you learn you’re not alone in this fight.
03 - Daily Accountability
Every day, you check in with your WhatsApp group. Could be a quick message. Could be a real struggle. Your brothers respond. Your Fireteam Leader watches for warning signs – sudden silence, changes in tone, withdrawal. If you start slipping, they notice.
04 - Weekly Face Time
Video calls keep things real. Your Fireteam Leader guides conversations beyond “how was your week?” You discuss challenges, share wins, work through problems together. They introduce practical tools from self-help literature. You build the kind of friendships most men don’t have.
05 - Protective Monitoring & Crisis Response
Your Fireteam and Leader watch for warning signs together – sudden silence in the chat, changes in mood or behavior, withdrawal from the group. When red flags appear, your Fireteam Leader activates immediate crisis protocols: contacting emergency services if there’s danger, connecting you with Samaritans (116 123), ensuring you’re not alone, and getting professional help involved fast. The team rallies around you. This is the protocol that saves lives.
